Pull up a Chair

Richard Hatem is haunted by his bookshelf…

From the time he was eight years old, he’s been amassing a collection of the weirdest, most terrifying books about all the things we don’t understand.  UFOs, ghosts, monsters, haunted houses, poltergeists, psychics, near death experiences and people who talk to the dead. These books, the people inside them and the stories they tell have followed Richard his entire life and had unexpected influences on him that even he was not aware of – until now.

I used to think I owned a lot of books.
But really, they own me…

Join me,
won’t you?

Every episode, I’ll break down one of the books on my shelf, telling you the stories inside – but also telling you the stories of what was happening in my life when I read them. The memories they unlock, the theories they fuel – the connections that appear only when seen at a certain angle in dim light…

I’ve spent my entire life trying to figure out what will happen to me after I die. But as it turns out, a lot has happened before that.

People are always asking me – why do you write this stuff?  Well – This podcast is the answer.

Each book is another step along the journey figuring out what this life is all about. Maybe book by book,  story by story, we’ll get a little closer to the answer. I don’t know if we will, but I can promise we’ll have fun along the way.

I may not know what all of them mean – but I know what they mean to me.
